Your journal starts on your device.
Flit stores journal entries, saved reflections, and pause check-ins locally on your device. The current app does not sync your journal through a Flit cloud account.
Device backups are separate from Flit’s own storage. What is included in a backup depends on your device and backup settings.
AI reflections are optional.
If you enable AI reflections and request one, the selected day’s notes and check-ins are sent over an encrypted connection to Flit’s service, hosted on Supabase, and then to OpenAI to create a reflection.
This request includes entry text, labels, timestamps, pause outcomes and notes, your reflection preference, and the day’s attention check-in if you recorded one. Earlier days’ journal entries are not included in the current app’s reflection request.
You can turn AI reflections off. Flit also has an on-device reflection path. A generated reflection may miss context; you choose what to take from it.
What “not stored” means here
Flit’s OpenAI request sets store: false, asking that the response not be saved for later retrieval through the API. That setting is not a promise that all service logs or provider retention are disabled.
AI reflections involve service-side processing. They do not provide end-to-end encryption between only your devices.
Service access has its own records.
AI access uses an anonymous service account and access permissions. The service keeps records needed to manage access and daily usage limits. Requests also include an installation identifier; anonymous access does not mean there are no identifiers.
These service records are separate from your locally stored journal. The current reflection service is designed to return a reflection, rather than keep a cloud copy of your journal.
Feedback sends what you choose to share.
When you submit general feedback, Flit sends your message, optional category, app version, build, operating system, and the screen it came from to the feedback service.
Reflection feedback includes your usefulness response, any comment you add, a reflection identifier, and generation details such as the model and prompt version. The feedback request does not automatically attach the reflection text or journal entries. Anything you include in your comment will be sent.
Avoid including personal journal details in feedback unless you want to share them.
This website stays simple.
The Flit website has no account, journal form, advertising scripts, analytics scripts, session replay, or tracking cookies added by Flit. Fonts and images are served with the site.
GitHub Pages hosts the website and may process technical information such as IP addresses to serve and secure it. Its handling of that information is described in the GitHub Privacy Statement.
Your choices and questions.
You can delete entries in the app and disable AI reflections in its settings. Deleting a local entry does not retract information already sent for a reflection or in feedback.
If you already have Flit, you can send a privacy question through its in-app feedback option. A public privacy contact and fuller service-retention and deletion details will be added before public app distribution.
